Charlotte Mason Powhatan is led by people who believe deeply in this work — not just as an educational method, but as a way of life. We are honored to serve the families of our community.

Elise Poppe
Elise's lifelong love of learning found its home in Charlotte Mason's philosophy — one she believes treats children and mothers as full persons, worthy of a rich and living education. What began as a personal conviction became a calling, and Charlotte Mason Powhatan was born out of her desire to offer that vision to the families around her.
A Master Teacher Trainer through Ambleside Schools International, Elise brings both deep formation in the method and a genuine warmth for the mothers and children she serves. She leads CMP each Tuesday morning and walks alongside homeschooling families through her consulting meeting each family where they are and helping them find their footing.
She lives in Powhatan, Virginia with her husband, four children, and an ever-growing number of animals.

— Curriculum and Program Assistant, Class Three Lead Teacher
Destiny has been married for 15 years and is a proud mother of two. With a background in early childhood education and special needs, she discovered Charlotte Mason’s philosophy before her oldest began school and joined the CMP family in 2023.
What drew her to Charlotte Mason is the timeless truth that education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life — a vision that nurtures the whole child far beyond academics. Her family is building their homestead in Amelia County and participates in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
Her greatest hope is that her students grow in confidence, develop lasting life skills, and walk boldly toward God’s purpose for them — all while delighting in His creation.
